Why Aesthetics?
The Hudson Valley School of Advanced Aesthetic Skin Care welcomes you to
the field of beauty and health. You will find a career as an
aesthetician to be personally fulfilling as you enrich and improve your
client’s skin.
Growing opportunities in aesthetics
Aesthetics has become a popular health and beauty field for both men
and women. Baby boomers especially enjoy treatments that will help them
look and feel younger, as well as provide remedies for wrinkled and
aging skin.
Places of employment
There are many opportunities for the licensed aesthetician.
Employment opportunities include medical settings where aestheticians
assist doctors and work with patients pre- and post-cosmetic surgery.
Aestheticians are also found in clinical and salon settings such as
health service centers, athletic clubs, private spas, beauty and tanning
salons, hotel and resort fitness facilities, private practices, and
clinics. Aestheticians also work in the cosmetic industry, in marketing
and advertising. Many own spas and salons, teach, or work free-lance as
independent consultants and/or contractors.
Salary
Weekly salaries range from $500-$800 to $50-$100 a day as a part-time
employee. Commission as a full-time independent contractor can range
from $1000-$1500 a week to $50-$100 daily part-time. Our students are
typically women ranging in age from 18 to 62. There are untapped
opportunities for men in this field.
You can choose to work full or part-time or set up a Aesthetics
practice of your own.
